Kid Rock has opened up about the decision to remove Eminem from his new song ‘7 Sins’, which has fans intrigued ahead of the release of Halfway 2 Jesus on 17 October 2026.

During an interview with Billboard, the country-rock artist revealed the personal reasons behind the change and shared a rare glimpse into the close friendship that has defined both of their careers for decades.
Rock initially invited Eminem to feature on ‘Heal My Faith’ – the track previously titled ‘Lord Above’ or ‘Show Me Love’ – but after hearing the version for ‘7 Sins’, the Detroit rapper chose to rap over it instead. The two agreed that two songs together would be unnecessary.
“We agreed we didn’t need two songs together,” Rock recalled. “People are going to think we’re dating. He’s like, ‘Hey man, when’s the last time you listened to that first song we were working on?’ I’m like, ‘It’s been a minute… I’ve been so focused on this record.’”
He went on: “I know I always loved it… and he listens to it and goes, ‘I think we should switch songs.’ Which is a blessing. I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is unbelievable.’”
Rock offered a preview of Eminem’s verse on ‘Heal My Faith’, which beautifully captures their shared history. He revealed one of the lines that left him emotional.
“He sends me back a verse wrapping up our whole history from like, day one – living at the Oakwood Apartments together, how I came to his Slim Shady release [show] when he was nobody and told him to keep going and how much that meant to him back then,” Rock said.
He added: “He nails the line, ‘He’s my brother, not my political enemy,’ and it just sent these chills. I’m like, ‘Man, this is so important.’ I heard the [finished] mix, and grandpa was crying.”
Lil Wayne is stepping in as a replacement on ‘7 Sins’. When Rock approached the hip-hop legend at the last minute, Weezy allegedly replied, “I’ll knock it out today.”
